These are 17x8 et20 off an e39. They rubbed like crazy when I put them on (225/45/17).

Went to local auto-parts store and purchased U-shaped "coil adjusters" for the back. Ive raised the rear up almost an inch...something I never thought I'd be doing on this car. I plan on getting the fenders rolled when the local shop isn't so busy. It looks like I might still need to leave the adjusters in, but lower them, for rare cases when I have 4 people in the car.

I can tell a slight difference handling. It seems a tad stiffer, but you can just feel the height difference over bumps and such , so this isn't a long term fix if you're an aggressive driver.

They stick out a tad in the front, and they do look beefy, but overall these wheels have grown on me. If I decide to keep them depends on what that fender roll price quote comes out to be:shifty
