Hello all,
Some of you may have read my post earlier about needing a key for my first car (the e36 328i). I ended up ordering a service key because it was the cheapest option, it was in my hand within 4 or so days :redspot

I changed the oil and filter and checked the coolant ws full and charged the battery up and started it. It was very rumbley and it almost felt like i was in a diesel, after a few moments it smoothed out. It then told me in the little display that the coolant needed refilling even though it was full. I siphoned it out and put new fluid in and then when i turned the car back on the message went away.

I then let it idle and after a few seconds some smoke started coming from the engine bay and i could smell burning plastic so i turned it off straight away. If you are looking from the front the smoke was coming from below and left of the furthest piston from you (closest to the firewall).

I then looked under the car and there was a small oil leak but i suspect that was coming from the oil filter as i may have under or over tightened the oil filter housing, because i dont have a torque wrench :( The leak stopped soon after i shut of the engine.

Anyway i know it could be a trillion things but if anyone can tell me that they no what it is it would make my day :D :help

Thanks,

CJ
